Pre-registration required On Wednesday November 1st, the Harriet Tubman Institute and the Department of Dance at York University will host a screening of the 2022 biographical documentary MABOUNGOU: Being in the World (48 minutes), followed by a discussion panel featuring Governor General's Performing Arts Award-winner Zab Maboungou and three internationally renowned dance artists - Isaac Akrong, Pulga Muchochoma, and Florent NikiƩma. This special event, a collaboration between the Harriet Tubman Institute and the Department of Dance, addresses how colonial pasts inform the present experience of dance artists of African descent working in the diasporas. Sponsored by PUBLIC: journal of art, culture and ideas, with support from a SSHRC Knowledge Mobilization grant. This event will be presented in English and French.
